The relationships between science, medicine, and the Nazi regime were extremely complex, and many members of the German medical profession became complicit in Nazi crimes. Access to decent medical care often meant the difference between life and death during the years of World War II and the Holocaust, and Nazi policies created many extraordinary challenges and ethical dilemmas for those devoted to healing.
